Privacy Policy – Cleanup

Effective date: 7 October 2026  ·  Last updated: 7 October 2026

Cleanup is built so that your photos, videos, and contacts never leave your device. This policy explains what data we handle, why we handle it, and what control you have over it.

Who we are

Cleanup is developed and operated by Axiant Labs Private Limited ("we", "us", "our"). If you have questions about your privacy, contact us at support@axiantlabs.com.

What data we handle

1. Your photos, videos, and contacts

This is the important one, so we will be direct about it.

Cleanup needs access to your photo library and, if you use contact cleanup, your contacts. All analysis happens entirely on your device. We do not upload your photos, videos, or contacts to our servers. We never see them. We do not store copies of them anywhere outside your phone.

When you delete something, it goes to your iPhone's Recently Deleted album, exactly as if you had deleted it in the Photos app. You can recover it there for 30 days.

Compressed videos and converted Live Photos are processed on your device. No file is sent anywhere to be processed.

2. Email cleanup

If you choose to use email cleanup, you authorise your email provider through that provider's own sign-in screen. We receive an access token, not your password.

We read message metadata (sender, subject, date, size, and attachment size) to identify large, old, or promotional messages. This analysis happens on your device. We do not store your email content, your email address, or your message metadata on our servers. If you revoke access with your provider, or disconnect the account in Cleanup, the token is deleted.

Email cleanup is entirely optional. You can use everything else in the app without ever connecting an email account.

Limited Use Compliance:

  • Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. Your vault

Photos you move into the vault are encrypted and stored locally on your device. Access is controlled by your device's Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN you set. We have no ability to access vault contents and no way to recover them if you lose your device or forget your PIN.

4. Analytics, diagnostics, and advertising measurement

We collect anonymised usage analytics (for example, which screens you visit, which cleanup categories you use, and how much storage was freed) and crash diagnostics to understand how the app is performing and where we can improve it. This data cannot be linked back to you and never includes the content of your photos, videos, contacts, or emails.

We also use third-party tools to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. When you install or interact with Cleanup after seeing one of our ads, limited data (such as app opens, first scans, and subscription events) may be shared with our advertising partners so we can understand which campaigns are working. This data is used solely for measurement and campaign optimisation. It is never sold.

Our third-party partners include:

  • Meta (Facebook SDK), advertising measurement and campaign optimisation. Privacy policy
  • Google (Firebase / Google Analytics for iOS), analytics and advertising measurement. Privacy policy

5. Purchase information

If you purchase Cleanup Premium, payment is processed entirely by Apple and is tied to your Apple ID. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status, enough to unlock Premium features and support "Restore Purchases", and nothing more. For purchase history, refunds, or subscription management, visit your Apple ID account settings or contact Apple Support directly.

Permissions we ask for, and why

Permission Why we ask When we ask
Photos To scan your library for duplicates, screenshots, large videos, and Live Photos, and to delete or modify items you select The first time you start a scan
Contacts To find duplicate and incomplete contacts you can merge or remove The first time you open contact cleanup
Email account To identify large, old, and promotional messages The first time you open email cleanup
Notifications To remind you about storage and, if you start a free trial, to warn you before it converts After your first successful cleanup
Face ID / Touch ID To lock and unlock your vault When you set up the vault

Every permission is requested in context, at the moment you use the relevant feature. We never ask for anything at launch. You can decline any of them and continue to use the rest of the app.

Tracking and advertising identifier

To measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns, Cleanup may request access to your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. This identifier helps our advertising partners attribute app installs to specific campaigns.

You are always asked before this happens, and you can decline with no impact on your experience. If you decline, we rely on Apple's SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving, aggregated campaign measurement. No personal or device-level data is shared with advertising partners in this case.

You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.

Your choices

  • You can use Cleanup without ever connecting an email account.
  • You can use Cleanup without ever granting contacts access.
  • You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
  • You can revoke photo library access at any time in iOS Settings, though the app will not be able to scan or clean without it.
  • You can decline the advertising tracking prompt, or change your choice at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.

Your data

Cleanup does not require an account. Your photos, videos, contacts, vault contents, and cleanup history are stored only on your device. There is no personal data held on our servers to retrieve or delete.

Deleting the app removes all local app data, including your vault. Vault contents cannot be recovered after the app is deleted, so move anything you want to keep back into your photo library first.

Analytics data we collect is anonymised and cannot be linked back to you. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us at support@axiantlabs.com.

Children's privacy

Cleanup is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

International data transfers

Some of our third-party partners (Meta, Google) may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. By using Cleanup, you acknowledge that anonymised analytics and advertising measurement data may be transferred to and processed in these locations.

Your rights under GDPR and similar laws

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with comparable privacy law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or request portability.

Because Cleanup holds no personal data about you on our servers, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device: your content is yours, held locally, and deleting the app removes it. For the anonymised analytics we do collect, contact us at support@axiantlabs.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

We keep analytics and diagnostic data only for as long as needed to improve the product and maintain security. Once no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the effective date above. Continued use of Cleanup after changes constitutes acceptance.
